Staying Present

Everyone seems to be going a mile a minute. Staying present is ever so important right now. I have some suggestions that have been helping me a lot these last few weeks.

Taking time for you, yes just you. Find yourself always taking care of others? Spend at least a couple hours a week on an activity that serves you. I suggest taking a walk or exercise class. If you can’t get out of the house, I recommend the Headspace App.

This app guides quick meditations whether you are already meditating or a newbie like me!

Taking 10 minutes in the morning or before you go to bed to focus on your breath really makes a difference in lowering your stress. I recommend setting reminders via the app to make sure to take time out for you!

Another idea is pampering your body. I recently got my nails done and instead of being on my phone, flipping through a magazine, or watching TV, I took the time to unplug. I sat listening to the christmas music that was playing in the background and relaxed.

Grab a sheet mask for your feet! I know I have recommended them for you face, but we all forget to take care of our feet.  This one is from Sephora but they can be bought online as well. I will be taking this during my travels these next couple of weeks.

There is something really relaxing about being read to. I guess this goes back to when we were children and wanted our parents or anyone for that matter to read to us. Let me just say, cuddling up in bed with a good book in your hands is awesome, but when you have been staring at a computer screen all day, our eyes need a break.

I recommend using Audible and curling up in bed and closing your eyes. Let your imagination create a scenery from the story you’re listening to. Light a candle or oil diffuser and soak in the bliss.

I hope some of these ideas help you relax and take time for yourself!

  1. One of the most important aspects of life…simply being present!

I highly recommend meditation, as you mentioned. And physical exercise which lets the rest of the world melt away as your mind gets in tune with your body. Don’t try to do too many things at once, and don’t worry about things you aren’t going to take action on.

Thanks for the suggestions and happy de-stressing!
