As I am writing this autumnal post it is currently 75 degrees and sunny…but in my head I’m pretending it’s 62 degrees and raining. Yes, I live in Los Angeles and ‘seasons’ are pretty non-existent compared to the rest of the country/world. However, I grew up in Chicago and have seen my fair share of leaves changing and the smell of crisp fall air. I will say that Fall is by far my favorite season…no matter where I am.
One of the best parts of Fall for me is changing up my makeup and clothes for something cozy, dark, and moody. Today, I wanted to show you a couple of my favorite moody Fall hues to get you inspired for the upcoming season.
Above photo, wearing Bite Lipstick in Sake.
Bite lipsticks are by far my favorite because of the buttery formula, color range, and the fact they are 100% food-grade. (They say we eat an average of 5 pounds of lipstick in a lifetime…better to be safe than sorry.) I chose these three shades because I believe there is something for everyone depending on how comfortable you are with wearing a darker/moody lip.
Products listed left to right (bottom photo).
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick, Sake, $26
Sake is the PERFECT everyday–wear to work shade. This shade is by far the most wearable out of the bunch.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick, Jam, $26
Jam is a rich berry hue and makes your teeth look extra white–bonus! This is more of a statement color that would be perfect for a night out. *I would suggest using a lipliner under this one for lasting power.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick, Nori, $26
Nori is more on the brown side but still a deep cranberry hue. This would be great if you are loving the 90’s makeup trend but want a more wearable (non-drying) version.

Make Up Forever Artist Plexi-Gloss, 406, $20
Make Up Forever’s Artist Plexi-Gloss is one of the most pigmented glosses on the prestige makeup market. This burgundy hue is opaque so it could be worn completely on it’s own. *My advice would be to top this over a lip liner for staying power and an extra boost of deep rich color.
MAC Velvetease Lip Pencil, Velvet Teen, $13.71
MAC’s Velvetease Lip Pencil, while no longer sold on MAC’s site, can be found on Amazon at $13.71. I only bought this a year ago, but MAC does a lot of limited addition products, so I guess this was one of them. The hue is a blackened berry. This guy is for the more adventurous for sure, but I highly suggest you give it a try. The pencil twists up, so no need for sharpening.
Lime Crime Velveteen Lipstick, Saint, $20
I have talked about Lime Crime’s Velveteen liquid lip before, but I think this cranberry-red shade is stunning. This has a very comfortable matte finish that doesn’t show every line on my lips. Lime Crime is vegan and certified cruelty-free. Win win.
I hope you found some inspiration to try a bolder–moodier hue this season. Bring on the boots, sweaters, and dark lips!
